Things to know about Summer Bible Reading Challenge:

  • This challenge is open to all people of all ages. We are reading through the Proverbs & the Book of Psalms this summer.
  • The purpose of this challenge is to encourage daily reading of God's word.
  • This means simply opening your physical or electronic bible to begin reading. So, join us to "READ YOUR BIBLE"!!
  • This is not about perfectly checking boxes off of a list, turning in your summary, or competing with others.
  • It is about working towards making the reading of God's word a daily discipline, having some little fun learning, and engaging with others on the scriptures you're reading.
  • Those who choose to participate will receive a prize at the end!

How to be successful during this challenge:

1. Make reading a habit

  • Make the decision that you will read daily
  • Plan what time of day you will read.
  • Don’t let anything take the place of this time on your calendar.

2. Reflect on what you’re reading in Scripture

  • After you have each read the passage for the day, consider a few of the following questions about the passage:
  • Something that surprises me in this passage of Scripture is:
    • What question(s) do I have about this passage?
    • What does this passage say about God?
    • What does this passage say about humankind?
    • Do these verses challenge you to change any attitude, actions, or words?
    • What does this say about loving God?
    • What does this say about loving others?

3. Summarize what you have read for the day in a short paragraph

  • Write a paragraph of your understanding of what you read for the day
